Optics for devices with fibre optic cables enable reliable detection of hot objects, even at high ambient temperatures.
Different sizes and viewing angles allow the detection area to be adapted to the distance and installation conditions. Matching accessories also simplify installation and protect the optics from contamination.

What is the function of the optics in a hot metal detector?
The optics collect the infrared radiation emitted by the hot object and transmit it to the hot metal detector via the fibre optic cable. This allows the sensor electronics to be mounted in a protected location outside the immediate hot zone.
How does the viewing angle of the optics affect detection?
Together with the detection distance, the viewing angle determines the size of the detection area. A narrow viewing angle allows targeted detection, while a wider viewing angle covers a correspondingly larger area. The actual field of view of each optic is shown in the table on this page.
What temperatures are the optics suitable for?
Depending on the version, optics are available for ambient temperatures up to +150 °C or +290 °C. Additional versions are available for particularly high thermal loads. Certain versions can withstand radiant heat up to +600 °C on the optics side. Always refer to the technical specifications of the individual optics.
Further technical information on the listed optics can be found in our technical datasheets. Matching fibre optic cables in various lengths provide a flexible connection between the optics and the sensor.
